Literature Text

It sank, slowly
a sliver of light,
dipping through boundless night,
and as it came down,
borrowed light touching nothing,
it prepared for its favorite sight.

The ocean rose up,
awakened from sleep,
as it left its age-old bed,
and it met the bright form,
and together they lay,
and only of love, was said.

The Earth sat below,
not nearly asleep,
and pulled the two lovers straight down,
and in her quick vengeance,
and jealous-made rage,
the young crescent moon she did drown.

Not particularly inspired; essay to be proof reading.
Originally a freeform poem; I accidentally closed the tab as I was working on it. Never again.
